Last year I stated noticing it was becoming increasingly difficult, on occasion, to get Fearless into first.
It was worse when well warmed up & particularly bad when in Low Range 4x4íng.
I asked for advice on two 4x4 related WhatsApp groups;
On the one group I was told...
" it's the O Rings on the clutch master cylinder - buy a kit from C&B center in Roodepoort & replace them"
another person agreed, but suggested I buy the OEM kit.
Someone else suggested buying a whole unit for over R2k.
On a 4x4AG WhatsApp group, I was advised to buy the OEM Master Cylinder from Toyota for R1 600 - but it's a bitch of a job.
He had replaced his & it solved the problem...
I asked a mechanic, he said he doesn't know, but from pedal to clutch, there is no adjustment 'Because it's hydraulic!"...
I went to Halfway Toyota Honeydew & asked for an O' ring kit. They said there is no such thing.
I then asked for a new Master Cylinder & they refused to supply it saying they have never heard of anyone needing to replace it.
I persisted. The lady then called the Technical guy & he said they'll sell the part, but he can't guarantee it will solve my problem.
He said it could be the clutch. It could be the Slave Cylinder unit, or it could be the Master cylinder - but that one he was least sure of.
He kept pushing for the vehicle to be booked in.
I bought the part, cost around R1200...
