For best results, get rims designed from the start to contain bead locks.

That being said, very few people "need" then. In fact, many people just want the cool visuals, which is why there is a whole market for fake beadlock rims.

The coolest off-road rims both contain beadlocks, and are split rims, allowing you to fit tyres to the rims in the field wihout special equipment - just pop the two halves of the rim around the hole in the middle of the tyre and tighten!

I am seriously on the lookout for split, beadlock rims for my mog. I never deflate as much as I should in sand, because at 150kg+ per wheel the prospect of a field wheel or tyre change is never fun, and i only carry one spare.

Sadly it is no more. But the Prado body was placed onto a shortened 80 Cruiser chassis. LS 6.0 V8, bypass Fox shocks, roll cage, big winch, big lights.....no aircon Image

Ive heard one can get the tyre beads up onto
the shoulder seatings of the rim
using a ratchet strap round the
centre circumference of the tyre
... and then dont need
a mega bar pump to do the job .
... Famous Fiver VoorLoper ...

I’ve done this once but only because the inner bead also came off, which is very unusual. But for the outer bead it’s not needed.

So bead lock rims are nice because they have a red lip on the outside?

Cant I just paint my steel rims?
Could this be sarcasm?
