So the time has come to look for replacement tyres on the V9X Pathy.

Its currently running 265/65/R17 Good Year Wrangler At/SA

I had the same on my Jimny and i was very happy with them. I know the Wrangler is now avail as a Adventure. and the reviews are very good and the pricing is not too bad, so 2 questions.

1. Is there another brand you would suggest/prefer above the Wranglers?
2. Going over to a 265/70/R17 make the tyre 1" taller. What is the chances of rubbing? is it worth is as the Pathy is IFS and IRS so no clearance needed on the pumpkin.

I'm no fan of the BFG. The Wranglers are pretty good.

What price are the Wranglers?

I've got the Goodyear Adventure A/T's all round on the Disco now. Was very happy with them on the front for the mountain passes trip and the river trip. Replaced the Geolanders on the rear after cutting the on on the river trip. Paid R1650.00 per tyre fitted for 245/70-16 last week.

I can vouch for the Yokohama Geolanders. I’m on my second set.

The General Grabbers get good ratings as well as the Hankooks.

Just do yourself a favour and don’t get the Hankooks unless they are the LT version.

I honestly don’t know if we get the LT version in SA. I have only ever experienced and seen first hand how Hankook Dynapro’s split a sidewall like nothing. They are useless tyres.

The Hankooks aren’t cheap either.

Ill go for the Grabbers, but you won’t find them in the 265/70/17’s you are after

Murphy’s law.... my father messages me earlier today saying that he wants to go back to Hankooks on his FL2.

He had them on, they lasted fairly well up to about 65,000km I think.

He then went with the new Geolander G015 and they are on 30,000km and wearing badly.

I’ve heard the FL2 is notoriously heavy on tyres for some reason, and my father’s experiences seem to confirm this.

His size is 235/60R18 so not readily available from many brands in A/T

so the options are as follows

INCL balance and fit for 4 Tyers

265/70/R17

GY Adventure R 10 050
Pirelli Scorpion ATR R 11 326
Cooper discoverer At3 R 18 258

i am leaning towards the Pirelli as it is not much more than the GY but apparently a lot better and less road noise

I've got the Geolanders that I took off from the 200. Size it 285/65/17 which is the dame circumference as the 265/70/17's

Send a courier and you can fit them to your Pathfnder. If they work, and you like them, then we can negotiate price
