Two Stroke oil is an oil called two stroke because it get's mixed with petrol for two stroke motors.

In lawn mowers & Edge trimmers you mix it by hand (add it to the petrol manually) but two stroke motorbikes have a separate tank called an Autolube where you add it & it mixes in with the petrol automatically.

You do get two stroke diesel engines, but they are rare so don't worry about them.

There are people who claim there are advantages to adding 2SO to diesel in your (4 stroke) diesel 4x4. However this is unfounded nonsense.

The advantage of using 2SO in a Touareg 2.5 diesel is that it causes engine failure for a 4e. That’s a great thing

I only buy Stihl 2stroke. Bloody expensive stuff !!! R122 per liter !

Yes , its bad ! But my brush cutter is now 14 years old !! Very good stuff !! Must say , only i use it !! Motor/engine still as i bought it ! Never been opened !!

I have a 6 year old Ryobi & I use whatever 2SO & it's still working.

It only cost me R1400 & I can buy another one soon with the money I saved not buying Stihl oil!it

I always thought it was called 2SO because it meant “to snake oil” your engine.... I’ve learned a lot

I have my father's old two stroke brushcutter.
Started it's life on Castrol SAE30 mixed 1:25 with petrol.

I have now inherited it, 35yrs old!
As Castrol SAE30 no longer available, moved to Stihl two stroke oil. Changed mixture to 1:37.

Original engine....and I am sure less carbon build-up as ePikaninni 's Touareg inlet manifolds

What about Yamalube? Any good?

seemingly, for many people, 2 strokes are all it takes.

Always used Castrol R with the pre-mix motors in the 80's but moved to Motul 2 stroke with the RD350, RD350 and RZ500. Never tried it in a 4 stroke motor as I don't listen to Witch doctor's.

I had the privileged to work on a real 2 stroke diesel.

and, unlike some others, I am sure you know why you don't need to add 2SO to diesel if you are running a 2 stroke diesel!
