Do you still have the original 1000cc motor in?
Suzuki Jimny - Hobbit Car
No... that's the reason it looks like that
She is running an Nissan A15 with 4.25:1 low range gears in the T-case and 31"tyres.
Still the stock "skinny" prop so not to surprised it looks like it does.
Having a new prop made up with upgraded u-joints and slip joint.
Annoying thing is I had just had the propshaft rebuilt two months ago.

Yeah...
No one would have predicted that to happen

Could this be sarcasm?
This looks a tad more beefy......
Got the new prop made up with 2mm larger diameter UJs and 50mm tube.

... in Landys the drive shafts are designed to be weakest link in drive train ...
If you strengthen that prop
the power will just go further down the line ...
... and if wheel/s dont turn ....

Landy sideshafts break if you look at them skew. I'm pretty sure it is just a clever excuse for a poor design.BushWacker wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 4:23 pm... in Landys the drive shafts are designed to be weakest link in drive train ...

The side shafts are the weakest link in the SJ but in this case the prop went.BushWacker wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 4:23 pm... in Landys the drive shafts are designed to be weakest link in drive train ...

The suspension is pretty flexy the way I have it now so the slip joint moves quite a lot.
I think this happened on a fairly big rock step when I gave it some juice while the rear suspension was extended leaving only about 50% of the splines taking the torque.
Not really surprised it failed

Not mine, but I have seen a few broken on trails. I don't know if the newer ones are better, but the Series Landies seemed to have an issue.Johannes wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 7:25 pmLandy sideshafts break if you look at them skew. I'm pretty sure it is just a clever excuse for a poor design.
