That was my next option.
I decided on the relay for two reasons. 1 it is cheap and 2 available at almost any spares shop.

Something to think about
may be to get lowest adequate amp draw ( adeq P )
fuel pump as it is often the main load draw
on the battery when running ...
... if your alternator packs up
you can then run longer on remaining battery charge
or even replenish via solar panel/s or mains chargers

Good point....
The pump is a low pressure Facet pump. Ave current draw is only 1.4A
Luckily this is still an old school carb fed motor an not a EFI setup
