Clutch Suggestions

#1

Post by Wooky »

Looking for some suggestions on clutch kit options that will take some abuse off road.
I would love to go Centerforce but that could be pricey (or just overkill).

I have a Nissan A15 motor in a SJ410 and it is starting to slip the clutch when climbing bigger steps.
Clutch is definitely old and on its last legs so want to replace it with something with better clamping force while I am about it.

Thanks

W

Centerforce the way to go. Have one in the V8 Yank Ranger. Pricey but worth it.

That would be my first prize option.
Do they have local agents in SA or did you import yourself??

My little A15 Nissan motor doesn't put out much but would like the extra locking force that it offers.

Imported mine via the V8 Shoppe. That clamping force works. If I let the clutch out on idle till the vehicle just start to move. You rev the engine with the clutch partly engaged it jumps forward like an auto box would do.

G60 Patrol v8 and the other v8 Ranger on their second clutch sets. Will go Centerforce on them next time.

NORBRAKE modified standard Toyota 4AGE clutch plates to a sintered metal button clutch for a very reasonable price. With all the other clutch bits still being standard, I never had slipping problems after the mod.

Button clutches are superb for race cars but lag clutch control need in 4x4`s

Paul... the vehicle that the 4AGE was fitted in was that used off road?
If it was, how did the sintered plate hole up to being slipped occasionally?

Only when the driver had brain fade. Fitted them to my Lotus 7 and Porsche 924 race cars.
Both car's were used on the road as well as the track and the clutches behaved well. In my experience you are able to slip the 4 button clutch similar to a standard one and it still bites on full release.

They are always super helpful. They converted BMW 3 series ventilated disks to Ford 115 PCD pitch for me to use on the 7.
