Power to Weight Ratio

#1

Post by Chris Stoffel »

I started thinking the other day, something that I very seldom do. I thought about power to weight ratios. When one devides the power(Kw) by the weight of the vehicle.

For my Samurai that has 51Kw and weighs 950kg the power to weight ratio is 0.053.
That means that I may very well have the strongest 4x4 on this here forum! :D

A I6 4 Liter TJ Wrangler with 142Kw and 1500KG gives you 0.094.
But Wranglers don't count. Nothing can compete with them.

Yes it does & unlike a Lexus luxury sedan motor - this one has the correct characteristics for an off road vehicle.

WAS being the operative word here ^^^^^ - currently it is about double the weight (with Malman added to the equation) and half the optimistic Nippon power output claims .........................

I'll bite - 2000 WJ Grand Cherokee aka RooiTjiep: 175 kW/1840kg - 0.095kW/kg. Bring 'em on :D The correct way of expressing this is Watt/1kg, by the way. In this instance, it would be 95w/kg

Same result Neil (1 ton = 1000kg and 1kW = 1000 W)
