Flexopower 444

I saw this at 4x4 Megaworld (Outdoor world) in Bryanston. It’s a very lightweight version of a portable dual battery and weights far far less. It has USB ports x 3, can be discharged completely (it uses Lithium Ion batteries) and is charged via 220V. Apparently good for 2 or 3 days running a camping fridge etc.

Not bad for R7k

Just a note on the recharging. Looking at the specs it seems you can recharge from solar panels or 12v cigarette lighter. Looks impressive. I’m no expert on the capacity of the thing or how long you could run your fridge. Those that know please advise.

Seems impressive - 18 hours opening time for the fridge.

40 degrees operating ambient temp is a bit low but could probably run higher in real world conditions as long as it does not follow the Samsung episode

That is very low ambient temp if you consider that temps in cars can reach 70 easily when parked in the sun.

I just got an idea for the other 24 lithium cells I have left...

So because of that, I know exactly how much I spent on it.

I like this thing.

I'm seriously considering getting one for:
  • Camping (with or without the trailer)
  • As a UPS during power outages & short load shedding events.
  • As a back up for The House Doctor when we work at sites with no power.

But R7100.00 is a chunk of change...

Some feedback...

I talked my Plumber buddy into buying one.
He was looking at one of those portable battery boxes from 4x4 Megaworld but I felt Flexopwer suited him better.

He bought it but had issues running his fridge off the cigarette lighter port on the Flexopwer.

So, we got the Flexopwer fully charged & I plugged my Snomaster fridge into the Flexopwer using the plug and running via the transformer.
This was at 15:30.
By 16:30 the Snomaster had dropped to -2*C & was running happily with two beers as test items.

He then plugged the Snomaster directly into the lighter port on the Flexopwer

Then, an hour later, at 17:30 he unplugged the power supply to the Flxopower - meaning the Flexopower was running the fridge off it's Lithium batteries receiving no input charge.

I'll keep you posted.
