Defender RHS Door Repair

The above 3 photo s ( if you can access them !)
are from my drivers side door
just below bottom rt corner of the window ...

1 st photo is ‘plate’ that broke off ...!
3rd photo shows door frame minus the broken plate
2nd photo shows plate refitted
to where I want to weld it ...

Can it just be lightly welded where it is
with the window glass immediately behind
or will the glass spoil or break etc ???

(I dont want to remove the window ...)
