Maybe one day.
Going to tackle a steel bumper project first!
Pity you are so far away now, I'd have enjoyed doing that one with you.

At least it would be done properly and be strong while looking good, Manny.

Funny, and here I am wishing my Patrol just had the old school little stand thing. My gas struts have bombed out for the second time in 4yrs now.
Could it be due to them never working except for the annual oil change?

Which way around are they mounted Graham? Is the down or up when the bonnet is open? It's advised to have it fitted with the rod down, to keep the seals lubricate. Under bonnet is a killer for seals and batteries.
For the one time a year that you do open the bonnet, it'll be cheaper for you to have a broomstick available to hold the bonnet open.

Andreas, just store the broom in the kitchen, that way she'll never find it....

I actually have no idea, sorry Paul. Im trying to build up the energy to do the oil change on it in the next week or two, I'll have a look then. But ya, I must chuck a stick of some sort in the car, would be a major irritation/problem to have to try get into the engine bay for some reason with a bonnet that wont stay up right now

… then again , for most land Rovers (?),
one can push the bonnet right back
to rest against the windscreen
… using a ‘cushion’ … like a plastic 5L oil container !

… or even lift the bonnet right off from there …

That might be the case on the older type Defender style Landy, but not on any of the Discovery models which is what is being discussed here.
