KRRRRRRRR
So I have this irritating, intermittant sound that kicks in from around 1200rpm and up.
Searching the interwebs resulted in a Pilot injection timing/volume issue.
Apparantly quite common on D4D's - especially as the mileage gets higher, or injectors are changed.
Anyhow, it doesn't seem as if this is a serious problem - just results in your Toyota clattering like an old ISUZU......
It would seem that many Dealers don't know what this is or how to resolve this - if Aussie forums are anything to go by....
Anybody had similar issues in the past?

It's not the engine. It can only be one of two things:
1) The heat generated by your godlights creates pockets of air which, as it flows over your vehicle's bonnet, makes for a trebling and rattley sound; and/or
2) By switching on your godlights, the intermittent sound could be the faint screams of evangelists in the northern hemisphere thinking the Rapture is imminent.

While it is running at over 1200rpm and making that Krrrr sound, disconnect t the Injectors one by one.
If it stops when one of them is disconnected post here which injector stopped the noise and I'll tell you what the problem is....

1. Injectors?
2. Cracked piston?
3. Water pump?
4. Engine Mount/Gearbox mount?
5. Loose exhaust pipe?
6. Bearing knock?
Start with obvious fault finding such as stopping it and revving it up, then revving it up under load, hit vs cold. Maybe have someone stand outside to find the problem more precise.
Or make the wise choice and buy a petrol…

Ok I'll just give you guys a little more info.
Injectors are brand new
Replaced the Suction Control Valve.
Pretty sure it's not pistons as power is good as well as fuel economy.
What I can add is that, on my scanning tool you have a few pilot injection measurements:
a) Injection timing
b) injection volume.
Now as soon as this sound kicks in - the injection volume on the initial phase drops to zero.
I'll try and get a sound clip and paste it here.
