There is another problem with EV's....you cannot go driving in the surf, like Toyotas can

Saltwater is an electrolyte — a chemical which helps transmit electric charge.
The saltwater flooding of a fully charged electric battery can create a dangerous “salt bridge” between the positive anode and negative cathode.
This can create the ingredients for a sudden, uncontrolled transfer of energy — creating a short circuit and, sometimes, a persistent fire.

… negative outlook for H2 cars to compete
with prevailing Li etc Battery EVs but there may be more success with large Long-haul trucks … article below relates.

“ … fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) propulsion is much less efficient, more complicated, and thus more costly than that of battery electric vehicles”, it says.
“For these reasons, major vehicle manufacturers are focusing almost exclusively on BEV models for passenger transport, which will lead to a global share of 85% of new car sales in 2050, versus only 0.01% FCEVs)...”

I found this article about EV's and the cost of operating them in the UK now with rising electricity costs. This can be applicable to us and other 3rd world countries.

Hydrocarbon based fuels will be with us for a long time still. If the EU refuses to continue with that type of ICE development, then I'm sure that leaves a huge opportunity for the Far East and 3rd world to produce vehicles.

Seems like you don't have to wait for off-roaders to succumb to the EV trend... Just take a current one and use it

Idiot got stuck on the access track and continued onto the beach. After being recovered the first time, he proceeded to travel further down the beach instead of heading back.

in large countries like the US, Oz or SA, where fuel is comparatively affordable & distances large, you have to be a knob to buy an EV.
That guy probably goes to Starbucks for a Almond milk latte' and does Cross fit and is either lactose or gluten intolerant....
