Grips this is the first time I've had issues with them.

On two previous vehicles they worked perfectly.

But I should get some feedback tomorrow.

I did, however, pick up a few similar complaints on the interwebs that were posted in the past few months. So there might have been a bad batch of steel or something that went wrong.

Ok, just spoke to Mike - 4x4 Megaworld Bloemfontein.

Looks like they will be replacing my pack.

They suspect that the pack might have been incorrectly marked and therefore incorrectly fitted...

Might be a 105 marked as a 106..

I must say that, from the get go, Mike has been extremely helpful and positive.
Did not get any impressions that they were going to look for reasons to avoid the claim.

So far so good.

Will keep you updated.

At this point not sure yet. I think they will probably be checked/sent away when the new ones are installed.

Personally I would say that there is an issue with the quality of steel used purely because there have been a few similar complaints on the net spanning over different vehicle brands....

But it's all speculation for now. The issue comes if the next set do the same......

I have never had issues with OME. Hope the next set does the job.

My fleet of work bakkies, all on standard rear leafs and constantly loaded at between 800kg to 1200kg have never had a rear suspension failure like that, last week I carried a 1260kg load of bricks 48km with no issue (except for steering as vague as a 4x4AG member committing to a 4x4 Outing.).

So for the OEM to bend like a Thai rent boy means one of two things:
OMEmu is sh!t.
You over loaded it then launched it like Evil Knievel landing with a bum bash that would make the aforementioned Thai's eyes water...

Ja look Manny there is no doubt that stock suspension can carry heavy loads.

Our fleet in Potch regularily load 1t +.

The difference being offroad comfort - especially when unladen.

I haven't loaded even close to a ton on mine so I don't think overloading is the issue.....

I do, however tow a 1.8t boat so I'm not too sure what the hitch weight is. I'm going to try and weigh that as a matter of interest. I suspect around 120kg...

Given that the constant load rating of these springs is 300kg, my canopy etc at max 180 kg plus an assumed towball weight of 120kg - means I'm spot on when towing.

If I add another 500kg for tent, fridge etc - means I'm only at 800kg .... ( 500kg may sound like a lot but we load feed , brandy & lots of ice as well)

What I cannot determine is - what the downforce mass on the towball might be when you go through a dip in the road.

A static hitch mass of 120kg may be significantly more if there is some wiplash effect?

Either way, I hope the next set lasts - else I'll be out of pocket and sorely disappointed!

Fortunately I still have the original leaf packs.

Ok so it turns out that the incorrect leaf packs were installed initially. They put in medium load springs instead of the constant 300kg load I paid for.

So they were replaced - no arguments and more importantly - no costs.

So I'm chuffed.

Must say there is so much lift now that I'll be driving downhill until they settle.
