Choppie (the owner) told me those tyres were notorious for that.

Pity, it ruined my day other than the Paj being crap in sand 🤣
Those Bridgestones aren’t on my bad list. Be glad you didn’t have BFG.

Nothing wrong with a petrol Pajero in sand.

Great Overlanders:
Defender 110 & 130
Pajero
LC70 Double Cab 4,2 Diesel
None good on Sand.

Although the 2.8 Defender 110 is the weapon of choice for some of the best sand drivers. Particularly the 3 door. Very sought after.

Are you not familiar with the 3 door 110?

We’ve got about 4 or 5 of them in our club.

You also get a 4 door 110, but not in 2.8

Looks like we're both uninformed - I should probably stick to Jeep info

Yes obviously. There were plenty of both 2.8i Defender 3 door 90 & 5 door 110’s built & available.

But my original point was that the 2.8i 3 Door 110 is preferred by some of the best sand drivers, over both of the other 2 versions. It’s longer than a 90 but just as rigid & not much heavier & has better balance.

Edit: the 4 door 110 is even more scarce but didn’t get the 2.8i that I’m aware of.

As I said, I should stick to Jeep discussions - never heard of a 4 door 110, unless you are referring to the double cab bakkie.

Nope. There was a weird version 4 door. One of the rear (passenger) doors was absent. So 2 doors on one side & 1
door on the other. Then the back door.

The reason was that it was classed
as a delivery vehicle & thus avoided some taxes in the UK. Very scarce in SA

Obvious then that it was never available with the 2.8 Bimmer motor, which was a local development by LRSA and not sold elsewhere.

It does work. Jacojeep rebeaded Shrek's tyre at Wolwekloof using a tin of spray paint and a lighter.
