Besides that those Aussies are crazy the one thing that stuck with me is that you can use a large hammer if you ding your rim.

I got myself another Rocky last week (auction) and came with only three wheels, alloys. I had to borrow two other tires to get it home.

So I need to get new rims for Rocky. Like the alloy ones, but can't find any to match. But watching the vid, isn't it better to steel ones. Can't see myself using a 4pd on alloys.

Any thoughts on this?

You have to really swing a four pounder to get a steelie back into shape!

Often steel rims are more difficult to source than alloys.

For me steelies all the way. Had a few bad experiences with alloys. Alloys break, steel bend. Easier to moer steel back in shape than find someone that can repair both.

My not so nice experience. Almost impossible for a hub to punch through a steel rim.

Steel all the way. Cheap to buy, cheap to fix. But some do bend easier than others.

Agree , cheap to fix , but not so cheap these days !

Pro White or A-Line are usually reasonable compared to alloys.

we should consider the pro's and cons of OE Mags , against aftermarket mags, OE mags is much stronger than aftermarket mags, my choice against steel rims.

My OE alloy rims usually get sold off. OE steel are also lekker but I got rid of those as well in favour of aftermarket ones. The reason being that not all steel rims are suitable to convert to Beadlock wheels. Alloys don’t work at all for beadlocks.

I challenge anyone to beat my steel wolf rims back into shape.

Toyota, Toyota, Toyota ( me banging my head against a wal)

LC 76/79, Torturer, Hilux, Prado, FJ and Cruiser 200VX. All Alloys
Cruiser 200 GX gets steel rims.

Where is the logic in the above?

Anyway. I like the steel rims on the GX for the reason that I could fix them if not to badly damaged when next to the road

Agreed but why only on the GX and not on the 79 and 76 as well? Those are more hardy vehicles than the GX
