Chas waar bly jy. As jy hulp nodig het sal ek jou help sodra ek by die huis is met die welding werk.
Ek bedoel niks lelik nie.
... many thanks Leon ,
I will take you up on that in due course!

... can see I'm not the only one
that sees I'll need some help to improve!

... slow improvement but a long way
from seam welding ... once weather gets clear will get Shaun and Paul give me a lesson!
... but Ive made a bottom bracket box to anchor lower end of my defender swing arm ,
... strong & functional but needed a thick coat of paint !
Swing Arm is firm and works A1 but Im
chancing my luck at the roadblocks as
its 'axle' runs in front of my indicators !
Chas, jy moet kyk. Daar het 'n duif op jou weld gekak.

Just kidding. I would listen to Paul's suggestion. But it looks much better than your previous attempts.

You have been offered lots of advice here Chas but it seems that you don't take any of the advice given and do your own thing. I've now given up giving advice on any forum. If people want help that they then just ignore now they can find someone else to give it. If someone wants my advice or assistance they can PM me and we'll do it off line.

Chas, don't listen to Paul, you can use the 25mm Connect-It system to build a spare wheel carrier.
Wheels are very light & Defenders glide like they on air.

Ironically ... the old experienced guy at
Fukawi ( who made/makes arguably the best canvas canopies in SA) did make aluminium swing arms and roof racks etc to sit above his canopies !
... but before connect-it appeared in the market, as I recall.
He used Al sleeves etc.
... but ... must say I was unconvinced !

For the guys thinking of going to a MIG welder, I got a refill gas cycle today. The full size cylinder on exchange was R662.00 for Teral Weldmix. The previous cylinder was delivered in the first week of March last year. It's lasted well with all the fabrication I've done over the last year.

For anyone wanting a bit of free training have a look at the link I'll add at the end of the post. Robot Industrial is offering basic training / demonstration days in their new Man Cave at the shop. Obviously this won't be in depth training but it can assist in getting you started.
