... indeed ... I travelled for about an hour South East
to a far quarter of the capital to the Welding Convention
... didnt recognize the Woolf in Covid clothing,
but he improved my helmet by removing inner & outer protective film from my lense !
No wonder Ive struggled to see what the Fork going on at the hot end ! ... ops will go easier from here on ... !
Woolf also recommended affixing a magnifier to the lens.
Something else you guys never told me is not to pull the rod along the seam but just let it weld & shorten 💥. :o
Most of the demo was on MIG and TIG welding as thats
what most of the mob were there for ... & the Plasma MC.
MIG is far easier than the sparkler stick but I didnt have a go at TIG ... didnt want to get the Tungstun anode stuck to the steel !

Uncle Chas if you need help again just let me no , and i hope you are happy with my work and remember like i told you noby is perfect.

Uncle Chas, I am glad you allowed Leon to help you.

If I had to see one more pic with bird shit drops around your welds, I would have sent a Himba on the next flight out to Jo'burg to help you weld.

... Crips if thats Spring Steel you welding,
I think that I read somewhere that if may be
susceptible to negative recrystallization effects... ?
Maybe someone from The 44AG Welding Academy
would care to comment.

Welding Spring steel you need to use rods like nickle chrome

Won't moving the bracket inward be an easier option then no welding on the leaf springs is required.

The chances of a breakage on the leaf side is highly possible.

Made a quick rod stand to fit on the existing canopy brackets on Sunday.

Chas (or Crips) - note the welds.

1,6mm thick steel welded with 2,5mm rods at 80amps.

Not the smoothest welds, but no bird shit either.

I found that if I drink less the previous night (or not at all in the morning), welding becomes easier.
