Exactly drove straight into the wind.
I was hoping it would improve when turning more south at Colesberg but the wind seem to know my movements and adjusted accordingly.

OK slowly on our way back.
In Graaff Reinet for the next few days.
The gear lever and everything around gets very hot while towing.
I have so far towed about 1950 km and has about another 800km left.
While not towing the bakkie runs most comfortable in 6th gear at about 1800 revs. While towing I keep revs at about 2500. Maybe that is too low and I should stay in 4th at 100km hour which should reduce lugging (as described in 4x4 comunity).
I know in a 5 speed bakkie you don't tow in 5th would you say the same of the 6speed

So long road towing the 2.4 hilux does not really have a problem with towing two tons.
You must be comfortable to sit with foot flat on long uphills and just generally take it rustig.
Other drivers are a much greater menace.
Twice I was pushed off the road by drivers trying to pass on solid lines and endangering everybodies life.
The last time a hilux passed me on solid line and then a small car come out of the undulating hills.
The passing driver is next to me and has nowhere to go so I take the whole rig off road at 100km hour.
The bouncing was so bad that the boat broke some of its tie down straps.
Luckily everybody OK and the moron apologized profusely.
