Well, apparently, one of the Ozzie banks has said that, from 2025 they will only do vehicle financing of full EV's.
So no financing of Petrol, Diesel or EV vehicles.
Fittingly, the Bank is Bank Arsetrailia...
(remember how every Ozzie objected to Novak playing Tennis there unvaxxed for fear he'd kill them all?).

One bank offers EV only finance over a 8 year period where most conventional are 6 years max. So for those that like to take loans over longer periods or who are purely attracted to lower installments will jump at these
Just out of interest. I've done 5'540km in my Fortuner since taking delivery. I've spend $1,242.91 on fuel so far @ average of consumption of 10.89 km/l.
If I had the Tesla (or similar EV) my energy bill for this period would have been around $387.80 (using only level 3 fast chargers).
However my colleague however had to replace his tires for the Tesla 3 after 48'000km. The other one has only done 30'000km and one can already see the mileage on them. Not sure if it is the almost 2t weight of these cars or what the reason might be but there is not a lot published about this part of owning one.

Three issues I have with EVs
1) Source of electricity for reload - if it is coal, then the Co2 footprint is obviously still there.
But I believe there are some prototypes that also generate electricity from breaking, and down hill driving which helps.
2) Infrastructure to reload - Even with a range of 700km on a loaded overlander (which is not the case yet), you will need to sit and wait somewhere between Put-sonder-water and Pofadder to reload. What about the fridge in the back? No alternator to charge that either. So solar panels tech will need to improve.
3) The future of Lithium tech: This requires Cobalt, 60% of which comes from the DRC, with questionable labour practices (to put it mildly). Unlike Oil, Cobalt and Tin is also limited So that tech will need to develop further.
Two issues I have with people bashing my big in-line 6 guzzlers.
1) My footprint: I remain one person working from home. I drive a fraction of the distance of someone else in his Prius. My footprint per km is more, but my total is less.
2) Co2 emissions: This is the only measurable, verifiable item. But what about building and eventual discarding of newer tech, sitting somewhere on a scrapyard, and the energy used to build new models. The full cradle to grave assessment does not count. My 4x4s last. They do not get discarded. The same applies to the Cat converters. They are only good for 150,000km. Then replaced (it a helluva premium). What happens to the old ones? Where does it go to continue to prevent the emissions...

As far as 4x4 EVs go, this car must be the equivalent of the Apple 11e desktop computer 40 years ago.
In time, the equivalent of the touchscreen iPhone will come along.
Perhaps, we will be able to convert our old machines to EVs, then it will not be such an eye sore.
