If you want portals buy a Unimog, for anything else Dana 60`s or Patrol diff`s with 35 plus tires. Portals are for serious Rock Crawling.

One day when I am big and have some money I would like a Patrol or Cruiser 90 with the Portal Axles

For a Noob on Portal Axles, I found this article insightful without going into technicalities...

http://www.leisurewheels.co.za/blogs/portal-axles-work/

But if they are so good, why not fit them as standard on 4x4’s? I am sure Rubicons, Cruisers, Patrols and G Wagon owners won’t mind. At least offer it as an optional extra

Some of the G-Wagon versions had them

I have read the Leisure Wheels article on Portals. Fact is it will not add reliability as portals add 4 reduction gearboxes to the drive line. This mean 4 gearboxes with separate oil and seal arrangement. In 2004 a failed oil seal on my Mog meant a portal hub rebuilt. Cool R10k back then for seals and bearings. Cannot agree with the author of the article. You add more moving parts you add more trouble.
