Yet it’s strange that they didn’t bother

I don’t think that’s the reason. Every other VW on the market has one.

Take any bakkie & look at its brochure or website. There will be a picture of its engine.......but not the 2.0 Amarok

Ja but there was only that & the Golf bakkie thing

The Amarok was built to take on the more established bakkies. From a manufacturer with little experience of offroad vehicles.

Offroad vehicles have some challenges. Like on trails where they are not getting airflow through the grill due to low speeds, yet the engine has to work hard.

Heat sink in the engine bay can be problematic.

One of the most practical engine covers I have come across lately is the one in the WK2 Grand Cherokee TDV6. Not a single bolt or screw keeping it in place - just rubber push in mounts, so the whole thing just pulls off and is pushed back into place when you are done
Thys , you are right ! My Figo also just pushes in , and pulls out ! But somehow the bloody agents have broken 2 of the pins that push in , off ! They obviously deny that it was them . I do not work on the car as it is under warranty ???

Why does a Figo need an Engine Cover?
Obviously it makes it go faster
