BFGs are great, until you go into challenging offroad situations. It’s why you never see them used in challenge vehicles without incident or a set of beadlocks.
Nobody ever claimed KO2`S are challenge vehicle stuff. If I had a purpose built challenge vehicle, not something that only run Atlantis dunes, I mean real challenge stuff BF KO2 would be my last choice. Comparing Bf AT`s in a challenge vehicle is unfair it has never meant to be that. A hardworking
4x4 Tyre for all round 4x4 duty that is it.

If I had a Challenge 4x4 it would have Baja Claws, Maxxis Godzilla or Trepador. I wonder who on this forum can claim to own a full grown challenge 4x4. Then at what level of challenge do you compete. Rock Crawler, purpose built Buggy, 4x4 for a specific dune trail. Does you find 160kw or 300kw the norm of your 4x4.

The facts are on the table KO`s win Baja races.

I can see myself traveling the worst gravel roads with a fully loaded 4x4 with 1.5t on the back with Baja CLaws.

Cannot see an Atlantis Challenge 4x4 doing trips deep into Africa.

My experience is not based on what others do but over 30 years of 4x4ing.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

Just made a quick calculation. Nearly covered a million km on BF`s without a glitch. Why should I buy another brand. Lasting a good average of 83000km per set. Interesting almost 500k km of the 1mil kilo`s covered by only two 4x4`s. I still own one of them, 284k km on the clock.

Thers nothing like piece of mind when you in the middle of no where and you don’t have to worry about tyre problems - that’s why I like BF’s - priceless if you ask me! I’m sure other top brands would work just as well but you know BF’s will do the job time and time again...

I compared a few 265/65R17 all terrains for interest sake...

BFG KO2 has a tyre load and speed rating of 120/117S.

This means the tyre is designed to take a 1400kg load at a max speed of 180km/h, or 1285kg per tyre in a dual tyre setup.

To compare to other popular brands, here are the ratings:

Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015: 110T = 1060kg at 190km/h

Hankook Dynapro ATM: 112T = 1120kg at 190km/h

Bridgestone Dueler D694: 112S = 1120kg at 180km/h.

So on a set of KO2’s a vehicle can be loaded to 5600kg, whereas (for example) the Yokohama can only take up to 4240kg (24% less). I know which one I would rather have when loaded and touring off-road.

By challenge vehicles I’m referring to production classes, that have a license disc. Not pipe cars

Still if I use a 4x4 as a competition 4x4 even if licensed I would fit Claws, Godzilla or Trepador.

I am actually thinking about getting a set for the Cruiser and putting the StMaxx that’s on the Cruiser onto the FJ
2017 Land Cruiser 200
2022 Corolla Cross (Yes. It's a Hybrid)
BushLapa Ratel nr 731

Perhaps the load index suits his intended use and he isn’t driving only on sand.

No, load ratings will be the same, but minus the sand functionality

XJ, serious question and I think a lot of us would like to know.

What tyre would you propose that has a 120 load rating and at least speed rating of S.

Talking A/T here.

There’s such a wide variety of good AT tyres on the market that are all much of a muchness, so it’s difficult to single one out.

Off the top of my head Hankooks or Grabbers.

I’ve had BFG ATs & they were a disaster, like the tests suggest. Didn’t they come 14th or 15th in that tyre shootout?

Expensive to buy, poor in the wet, side wall too inflexible, won’t stay on the rims. Rather fit a HT because they are better.
