Clearly the Bakkie is just better
That's why a comparison is necessary and not just opinion.

My question is based on this.
as rabidog says
The Evoque
technology for safety
More kw and more NM
More comfortable.
I am not taking the boat out the water for 10 days as I managed to get a Jetty for my stay.
The Evoque then becomes much more fun for the passes and gravel roads in 'n the forest.

The bakkie lacks the power but makes up in reliability and confidence while traveling.
These first Srx models had nearly no electronic aids. Only abs.
Uncomfortable and the whole holiday in the bakkie even when not around the water.

But Hiluxes are good in water. You can leave the boat at home

So I'm taking it as you won't have any wet clothes or items after boating?

Yes that is my first thought too.

But would love to hear why?
It is not about kilowatts, its about gearing... And if you need nannies towing a boat, then you are towing too fast ;) . Boat trailers are VERY stable....

No I have never needed nannies but have also never towed this far or this big so I am just weighing my options.

I looked at changing the Hilux to the 2.8 or preferably an Amarok V6 or even a Triton. But then I thought I do have a vehicle with the same kw as the 2.8 hilux or the Triton and that is where the question started.

Further this discussion is now moot because Mandy pulled the plug.
"What you want to hook that to my car? Never! You want to put my car near salt water? Never!

So now we are using the Hilux.

Hannes, auto Amarok’s can’t reverse with a heavy trailer.

I would use the Hilux for the tow, for reasons mentioned above and also being on holiday at the coast with a bakkie makes a lot of sense.

If you weren’t towing, the Evoque wins hands down of course.

What Kurt said.

Hilux it is.

The boat was a bit heavier on the weigh ridge than the Evoque so can't tow it legally.

That’s like using a handbag as a toolbox.

Had all 4 the wheelbearings replaced on the trailer and adjusted the brakes. Made adjustments to the Hilux tow bar height, much happier now.

Neil the 4x4 DC towing capacity is 3200 and not 2750 as the specs you posted.

So it much better than the 2 tons of the Evoque.

Also the stiff leaf springs scarcely move when the boat is hooked up.

I think the Evoque will drop its uterus if the boat was hooked up to it.
