Reversing a big trailer.

Cut a section of steel tubing, with an ID slightly bigger than the coupler shaft, in half lengthwise and as long as the extended coupler shaft when the brakes are released (car pulling the trailer) Before reversing the trailer, put this half tube over the shaft to stop it from moving back and applying the trailer brakes

Good idea Thys . You can drill a hole in that half round piece and make a space somewhere where you can bolt it on trailer when not in use .

I would do the same. Or even a U square channel of similar ID

I am looking for a more modern coupler. The brakes are not quick enough on the road and it is to strong when reversing.
