Or take R200k & get an old GL diesel like this.

Although this particular one doesn’t have an engine cover, like an Amarok.

I agree, superb vehicles and more capable off-road than you think.

If you go for the D3 you are even better of.

Those are the last of the real offroaders from LR.

I am flirting with Patrol or older land cruiser 80 100 or 105. Then suddenly a Prado is back in play.

A petrol 2011 Patrol with 114 000km on for 349 000(Auto Trader) will surely be cheaper than upgrading to v6 Amarok.
So I will have advantages of SUV and a bakkie for work.
I might then do bulk of driving with hilux but still have a monster when I feel like it.

Aaah it's nice to dream.

I forgot about the Patrol. They are very comfortable

But the fuel usage would kill you unless you take the 3 liter diesel.

I recommend selling the Hilux, just out of principle.
I agree with the Junkman on the above comment - out of principle

But not with the comment below, if bought as an off-road toy - they can't FLEX, as Kurt keeps telling us  and spares are a pain in the but to obtain and expensive, if I believe what many owners say.

I refuse to be POLITICALLY CORRECT to impress others - Deal with it

On the point of spares availability, it hasn’t hindered me in any way in all 6 years of owning two Pajero’s in that time. And besides, if it’s a weekend toy, then he can deal with the slim change of needing a spare part and waiting a few weeks for it to be shipped from Japan.

I was looking at a Wanker IO for my son a few weeks ago. The seller also owns a Frotuna and mentioned that he had both serviced recently. The 1800 petrol IO was 40% more expensive in parts and labour than the diesel [spit] Appliance :o

I just smiled, waved and walked away..........
