Many vehicles already have a rearview camera that is shown on a part of the rearview mirror when the vehicle is put i to reverse, others show on the infotainment screen.
Having a screen there that is permanently on might take a bit of getting used to, but I cannot see a problem. As long a s the screen does not obscure visibility of the road in front.

in many vehicles, the cab mounted rearview mirror is useless as it has no rear window (panel vans and closed canopies on bakkies). I am sure that it will be acceptable as long as you have at least one outside mirror fitted.
I refuse to be POLITICALLY CORRECT to impress others - Deal with it
